Dinner has just cleared, plates still giving off heat in the rack, the kitchen window propped open. Inside, Ember dries dishes with Andy's stepmother, her laugh tuned carefully – the laugh of a guest who wants to be wanted. Out on the porch, Mia sits with her elbows on her knees. When her head comes up, Andy stands caught between two lights: the kitchen's warm glow on one cheek, the last of the dusk on the other.

"Treehouse. Ladder's loose." That’s all she says, and he would have followed without the excuse. The rungs groan under his weight, just as they did years ago, each one marking the five missing years between them. She climbs ahead without looking back, certain he will follow. She is right.

Episode 2 continues on HoneyToon, where rain settles around the treehouse and neither of them moves. Teach Me First lets the silence stretch across a few more episodes – until one of them finally breaks it.
